Bakhtavar Khan, aka, Sonam Khan ruled the silver screens from 1987 to 1994. She was one of the finest actresses who worked in Telugu films and Bollywood. She has worked with actors like Govinda, Chunky Pandey, Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Chiranjeevi, Jackie Shroff, Sanjay Dutt, Raj Babbar and Naseeruddin Shah, to name a few. She is known for her world like Vijay, Tridev, Lashkar, Ajooba and Vishwatma. It was her acting mettle and beauty that captivated the hearts of the viewers. Despite much fame, she quit the world of acting and chose to step away from the limelight.
You might remember Sonam Khan from the hit song, Oye Oye Tirchi Topi Wale, where she was featured opposite Naseeruddin Shah and went on to become the ‘Oye Oye’ girl of Bollywood. Reportedly, at the mere age of 19, she tied the knot to director Rajiv Rai with whom she worked in Tridev and Vishwatma.
At the peak of her career, she got married and went abroad. As per reports, her husband did not want her to continue acting and now, she regrets leaving the glamour world. As per recent updates, she is going to return to acting once again.
Sonam Khan’s financial condition was reportedly not quite good. She shouldered the responsibilities of her family and asked her aunt and famous actress Zeenat Aman to get her a small role. She started off doing some modelling projects which ultimately paved the path to acting as she was signed up for her first film, Samrat, a Telugu film.
She marked her debut in Bollywood with the film Vijay featuring Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Rishi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Meenakshi Seshadri and Anupam Kher. Her last film was Insaniyat opposite Sunny Deol. There were a few reports which claimed that after her marriage, she started to get threats from the underworld and left the industry to live an anonymous life abroad.
As per the recent updates, Sonam Khan might be making a comeback with Bigg Boss OTT 3 hosted by Anil Kapoor. Reportedly, her team has confirmed that she was approached by the makers of the show.
