Telugu actress Shivani Rajashekar’s Aha OTT release Vidya Vasula Aham did not gain much favourable reviews. Her last theatrical release Kota Bommali PS created ripples at the box office. Growing up in a household, where stethoscopes mingled with scripts, Shivani Rajashekar absorbed her father’s dual passions. Her father Dr Rajashekar, apart from being an acclaimed actor, held an MBBS degree. According to Shivani, she was also into alternative therapies like flower medicine and Ayurveda. Walking in on her father’s footsteps, Shivani completed her MBBS in February this year and can now use the prefix Dr to her name.
On the occasion of Doctor’s Day on July 1, Shivani shared a few photos of herself in her doctor’s attire, complete with a stethoscope around her neck. She captioned the post as “Happy My Day To Me”. These photos are now going viral on social media.
Previously, in an interview after the success of Kota Bommali PS, she had said that observing his father navigate the fields of both medicine and acting instilled in her a feeling of respect for both the professions and the urge to pursue and excel in both as well. Talking about how challenging it was to pursue her MBBS, she said, “It was hard balancing my acting career and my MBBS preparations, particularly due to my health problems. During my first two years of MBBS, I dealt with supraventricular tachycardia, which caused irregular heartbeats.
In 2020, I underwent successful keyhole heart surgery, and life has been smooth sailing since then. Having my father, Dr Rajashekar, by my side has been a great support. He’s a qualified doctor who continued practising medicine even at the peak of his career. Growing up, I watched him treat our family and friends using alternative therapies such as flower medicine, tissue remedies, homoeopathy, and Ayurveda. Seeing him navigate these diverse medical approaches fueled my passion for both medicine and acting.”
