The logo of the 5th Women’s International Film Festival (WIFF) has been released by the Mayor of Kochi, M Anil Kumar in Kerala. The delegate registration will start on February 5. The event will be held at Savita and Sangeet Theaters, Ernakulam (Kerala) from February 10 to 13. WIFF is organised by the Kerala State Film Academy. The organising committee of the same has been formed today, along with the unveiling of the WIFF logo. A total of 31 films of women directors, who garnered praise at the 28th International Film Festival Kerala (IFFK) will be screened at this four-day film. The online delegate registration will begin at 10 am on Monday, February 5.
Registration can be done through the official website of IFFK–https://registration.iffk.in/. The registration fee for the General category of delegates is Rs 472, whereas for students it is Rs 236.
The formation of the organising committee was done at a meeting which was held at the Ernakulam Government Guest House in the presence of M Anil Kumar, Kochi’s Mayor. Apart from him, actress and member of the General Council of the Film Academy, Kuku Parameswaran also attended the function. The Secretary of the Kerala State Film Academy, C Joy hosted the meeting. Several decisions were taken during this meeting regarding the fifth edition of WIFF.
The meeting saw the participation of various actors and directors of Malayalam cinema. Scriptwriter and lyricist Shibu Chakraborty and renowned directors Sohan Seenulal, Salam Bapu and Shaji Aziz also attended the meeting. Actors such as Irshad and Divya Gopinath took part in the formation of the organising committee. The Cartoon Academy governing members also participated in the meeting.
WIFF is being conducted with the sole motive of encouraging women directors and actors in the cinema.
The 28th edition of IFFK was organised from December 8 to 15 in Thiruvananthapuram. The event concluded with a grand valedictory function held at Nishagandhi Auditorium with renowned actor Prakash Raj as chief guest. The much-anticipated Suvarna Chakoram for Best Film was awarded to Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s Japanese film Evil Does Not Exist.
