CHAMRAJNAGAR: Excise Minister Renukacharya called upon youths to join hands to eradicate and fight social evils like caste, corruption, illiteracy, poverty and hunger to put India on the list of developed nations.He was speaking after inaugurating the 65th Independence Day celebrations at Ambedkar District Stadium at Chamrajnagar on Monday. He said that the nation would get independence and prosper only if the poor and underprivileged gain socio and economic status to join the mainstream.The five-year plans had focused on green and industrial revolution, irrigation, literacy, basic infrastructure and other issues, Renukacharya said. Renukacharya said that the BJP government is committed to developing the backward district. He said that `1027.9 lakh has been sanctioned for drinking water, `799 lakh for Suvrana Gram programme, `36.86 lakh for literacy programme and `227 lakh for health and `396 lakh for promoting sericulture and fisheries.The government has released `750 lakh for Kollegal taluk alone, `50 lakh for Yalandur and has given solar lights to 1,800 tribal families, he said.
