National Commission for Women (NCW) member Shamina Shafiq said that women students had revealed feelings of insecurity after the recent attack at Morning Mist homestay.
She told reporters at Circuit house on Friday that the attacks had made female students believe that anything could happen to them. “A group of students who met me also expressed the same opinion,” she said.
Reacting to State Commission for Women Chairperson’s report, she said it was far from the truth. She had not met the victims, Shamina said. She however, clarified that the legality of the homestay is a state affair and authorities will take action.
“I will submit the report soon to the Centre and am waiting for the ATR (Action Taken Report) from the police,” Shamina informed. She said repeated telecast of the students being attacked had traumatised the parents. “The police will investigate the role of mediapersons in this regard,” she said.
