Jabalpur: As the chorus for CBI probe into the alleged unnatural deaths of MPPEB scam accused is growing louder, the local branch of Indian Medical Association today demanded probe by the central agency into the death of the dean of government medical college D K Sakalle, here.
"Dr Sakalle was looking for 'Munna bhais' (those who passed by cheating, a la the Sanjay Dutt character in a Bollywood film) in his college.
His burnt body was found in his bungalow in the college campus under mysterious circumstances on July 4, 2014. We had demanded a CBI probe, and even now we are demanding it," IMA district president Sudhir Tiwari said.
Claiming that Sakalle was killed by "Chinese laser gun", Tiwari rubbished police's finding that the dean committed suicide. He said that Sakalle was a forensic expert and would not have opted to end his life in such a painful way.
Tiwari also alleged that the autopsy was conducted by junior doctors instead of experts. Sakalle was scrutinising documents of MBBS students who had come under the scanner after the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board scam came to light.
Two accused in the MPPEB scam died in Gwalior and Indore respectively this week adding another murky dimension to the massive scandal in which 25 accused and witnesses have died so far.
MPPEB scam, popularly known as Vyapam scam, refers to a massive admission and recruitment racket involving politicians, bureaucrats and middlemen which came to light first in 2013.
