Vidarbha: 5 more farmers end lives
The total number of farmers who have committed suicide after the PM announced the relief package has gone upto 401.

Nagpur: Five more farmers from the Vidarbha region have committed suicide since Monday, taking the total number of suicides since June 2005 to 1,011, an NGO working for the cause of farmers claimed on Tuesday.

The NGO, Vidarbha Jan Andolan Samiti, claimed in a release that Pralhad Natthuji Kadu of Belora (Amravati), Rameshwar Pofale of Chinchala (Washim), Hanuman Kale of Sarai (Yavatmal), Mahadeo Lokhande, Satephal (Yavatmal) and Goverdhan Mahalle of Chichgaon (Yavatmal) took their lives on Monday in Vidarbha.

With this, the total number of farmers who have committed suicide after the announcement of relief package by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has gone upto 401, it said.

The Samiti has threatened to launch an agitation on October 26 to press for the demand of remunerative price for cotton crop in Vidarbha region.
