Vellore temples to hire ex-servicemen

VELLORE: In an effort to ensure safety of temples, authorities in the district are hiring ex-servicemen to protect places of worship. According to the assistant director of Ex-servicemen’s Welfare, S Manivannan, interested ex-servicemen below the age of 62 could register themselves on or before January 8, 2012, either in person or over telephone. They may contact the following numbers: Ex-servicemen’s Welfare office: 0416-2220432, assistant director: 9362681718. Those hired will receive a consolidated pay of `5000 per month. As many as 85 temples in the district are currently in need of protection.
