Winning the Jhalawar Baran seat in Rajasthan with a landslide margin of 2,81,546 votes, BJP candidate and sitting MP Dushyant Singh has made a hat-trick of victory.
Son of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, Singh defeated his nearest Congress rival Pramod Bhaya. A total 11,27,343 people voted in the Jhalawar Baran constituency where three of the six contestants lost their security deposits. Nearly 19,064 voters chose the None of the Above (NOTA) option here.
Singh's huge victory, meanwhile, has raised expectations of his supporters who are demanding a ministerial portfolio for him in the Narendra Modi government. "Dushyant Singh should at least get a state ministerial rank in Modi's Cabinet," said a party worker here, while mentioning that Singh left for New Delhi last evening.
Also, BJP candidate from Kota Bundi parliamentary seat Om Birla, a three-time party MLA from Kota South, made his debut in Parliament. He defeated sitting Congress MP Ijyaraj Singh. Birla won with a margin of 20,0782 votes. He got 6,44,822 votes, while Ijyraj Singh polled 4,44,040 votes.
AAP candidate from the seat Ashok Kumar Jain faced a humiliating defeat and could not even save his security deposit. He got only 16,981 votes. Out of the 12 candidates in the Kota Bundi seat, 10 lost their security deposits. A total of 11,42,689 people voted here. Of them, 12,760 opted for NOTA.
