New York: In another incident of shooting in the US, several people were shot at by a gunman outside the Empire State Building in New York on Friday morning.

According to reports, the New York police have said that at least two people got killed in the incident.

The police have, however, not linked the shooting to any terror activity so far.

The gunman has also reportedly been shot dead by the police.

A fire department spokesman said it received a call about the shooting just after 9 am (1300 GMT) on Friday and the emergency units were on the scene within minutes.

The shooting occurred at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, just beside the city's iconic skyscraper and a massive tourist attraction.

Eyewitnesses said that the gunman fired indiscriminately at the people.

Reuters reports:

The shooting may be a case of a workplace dispute that spilled out onto the street. A disgruntled employee, who had just been fired, is likely to be the gunman.

Following the shooting, the Fifth Avenue in New York City has been closed between 23rd and 42nd Streets.

As of now, nobody is allowed to enter or leave the Empire State Building, outside which the shooting took place.
