New Delhi: When a young couple from Texas, US, opened a Facebook profile for their unborn baby girl on Facebook it made headlines. Now the world largest social networking service has silently included an option to add an expected child as a family member.
Facebook does not allow anyone below 13 years of age to have a profile on the website, therefore the newly added option of "Expected: Child" does not get a profile, yet. It is speculated that Facebook's intention behind the new feature is to discourage parents from creating separate pages for their children.
To be parents can also add the due date and, optionally, the baby's name. The baby then appears next to other family members on the user's profile and the changed status also appears on the user's friends' news feeds.
The new feature seems to have been around for quite some time, but has got the Internet buzzing only this week.
