CHENNAI: Tuscana, a newly opened restaurant situated on Chamiers Road had a special dinner for all CAN-STOP well-wishers on June 7 between 7 and 10 pm. Andrew T Simkin, US Counsel General shared how important is to spread awareness on cancer and appreciated CAN-STOP for all its efforts to reach out to the public.Ramesharam Mishra IAS, Saxena IAS, Gopika Varma, Rtn S Gunashekar President (Rotary Club of Madras 2011 – 2012), Vipin Shah (a cancer survivor) shared their emotions about cancer and its effects on family members.Dr Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan, Founder — CANSTOP briefed on the new project “CAN-STOP NEST”, a temporary home stay for the cancer affected and their families coming from outskirts of Chennai city. “More than 60 per cent of cancer affected patients who undergo treatment at various Hospitals come from the outskirts of Chennai city.The family faces many constraints during the child’s treatment therefore the proposed home stay project is an effort to help the family stay together and also reduce their financial burden” opined Dr Vijaya Bharathi Rangarajan.She also expressed sincere gratitude to MC Shankar’s family for donation of their family trust land for this noble cause.Dr Premalatha MD, PhD also an artist and musician kindly donated a number of paintings so that the proceeds would be utilized for CAN-STOP Projects.
