BANGALORE: Karnataka Chief Minister Devaragunda Venkappa Sadananda Gowda (DVS) is an inspired man after BJP president Nitin Gadkari made it clear that he would stay in command. In an interview to Express on crossing the six-month mark as the CM, the smiling soldier of the BJP said he was on a mission to provide a clean administration. While admitting that he was carrying a list of failures as the CM, he said there were many positives too propelling his dreams. “I could not ensure that all my Cabinet colleagues were in the office as I wanted in the initial stage. I could not keep them intact,” the CM said. Harping on the point that he is embracing politics of peace and not vengeance, Gowda said: “I should be a CM for all, including my opponents. I should not be a CM only for my party and my people.”Asked whether he forgot the template to be a tough CM, he said merely being a tough man would not resolve problems. “Clear intentions, clean actions and smooth relationship are what matter. I have more trusted Cabinet colleagues now, who are helping me out. I have a very cordial relationship with my officers, who are working day and night overseeing various projects. Turbulence within the party doesn’t scare me. Only work matters to me,” the CM said.Showering praises on Yeddyurappa, the CM said no one should think that the former CM has lost everything. “His leadership qualities, organising capacity and experience are lessons that guide me. I still run to him when I need advice,” Gowda said. Asked whether he lacked support from his Cabinet colleagues, the CM said he had given them a free hand, hoping to get good, visible work.(Full interview, tomorrow)
