THRISSUR: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday reiterated his stand that traitors (Kulamkuthikal) are always traitors, but did not entertain questions on whether the slain Revolutionary Marxist Party leader, Chandrasekharan, was a traitor or not. He was speaking to reporters at the Thrissur Press Club. He said it was inappropriate to discuss issues related to a person after his death. However, he kept mum when asked how a ‘traitor’ became a ‘fearless Communist’, in reference to Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan’s comment on Chandrasekharan after his murder. While condemning the murder of the RMP leader, Achuthanandan had termed him as a ‘fearless communist’ the other day.He, however, maintained that there was no differences in opinion between Achuthanandan and the party over the issue. He alleged that the United Democratic Front was creating an air of suspicion by levelling false charges and allegations against the CPM in connection with the murder to gain an upper-hand in the Neyyattinkara byelection. As part of this, the police had searched a CPM election committee office at Chenkal in Neyyattinkara the other day. A woman activists of the CPM was injured in the incident, he said.He said the LDF had a strong conviction and that the ploys of UDF would backfire ultimately once the real culprits in the murder comes to light. However, he alleged that the state government is trying to delay the investigation as long as possible and will not arrest or take into custody the culprits till the completion of the by-poll.
