BANGALORE: With less than one month left for the implementation of Food Safety and Standards Act by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the state health department is now carrying out orientation programmes for health officers who are directly or indirectly involved in its implementation.
Speaking to Express, Mission director Selva Kumar, said that for smooth transition from prevention of Food Adulteration (PFA) Act, 1954, to the new scientific and integrated Food Safety and Standard Act, the state needs sufficient trained human resources. The training for food safety officers, designated officers and adjudicating officers will be held between July 2123, in three batches comprising 30 health officers in each batch.
