New Delhi: Two top commanders of the All Tripura Tiger Force surrendered before the police on Friday night.
Captain Michael and Lieutenant Royal Debbarma carried cash rewards of Rs 2.5 lakh each on their heads and are believed to have carried out the blasts in Agartala last week.
Red corner notices had been issued against them by the Interpol.
Their wives - also members of Tiger Force - have surrendered too. Their children were with them at the time of surrender.
They, however, could not deposit any arms or ammunition but said that "dark future and severe financial crisis" had forced them to desert the outfit's camp at Satcherri in Habiganj district of Bangladesh.
The Tripura Peoples Democratic Front (TPDF), the political wing of the Tiger Force, in a statement said that Michael and Royal had surrendered with permission from the highest authority of the outfit.
"Michael has been ill for a long time and Gitarani, wife of Royal, was charged with anti-Tiger Force activities. There was difference of opinion and we allowed them to retire," the TPDF statement said .
Lately, there has been an increase in the number of surrenders in Tripura. Twenty-two NLFT militants are also expected to surrender on Saturday.
