New Delhi: RSS chief, K S Sudershan and the party?s number two man Mohan Rao Bhagwat met with senior BJP leaders at their Jhandewalan office on Wednesday.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the change of leadership in the organisation after L K Advani steps down in December.
Party vice president and the strongest contender for the post of President, M Venkaiah Naidu was the first to call on Sudershan this morning.
He stated that, "L K Advani himself has expressed the will to continue as BJP President till the silver jubilee of the party. After that he will work as leader of the Opposition."
However after the meeting Naidu claimed that the issue of leadership did not figure at his meeting with the Sangh leaders.
"The Sangh cannot interfere in the election of BJP president. RSS does not fix the calender for BJP election," he added.
However it is still not clear as to when L K Advani is going to step down.
Even Naidu could not provide a date for Advani quitting the party's top job.
An understanding was reached between the BJP and the RSS in September that Advani would give up the post of the party President in December.
The agreement also stated that even though there would be a new President, Advani would continue in the capacity of leader of the Opposition.
