NAGERCOIL: Three persons, including two engineering graduates, drowned in two different incidents in the district on Monday.Police said Anish (21) of Keerivilai in South Surankudi was doing his third year engineering at a private engineering college in Ramanathapuram. He, along with his classmates Saravanan (21), of Alangulam in Tirunelveli district and Rajasekhar (21), of Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district, were doing an in-plant training at Nagercoil BSNL exchange and were staying at Anish’s house at South Surankudi. On Monday morning Anish, Saravanan and Rajasekhar went to take a bath at Sambakulam pond at Pottal Vilaku near South Surankudi. As he did not know swimming Rajasekhar stayed on the bank, whereas Anish and Saravanan went to take bath. Unexpectedly, Anish was caught in a quicksand. Saravanan went to save Anish, but both drowned. On seeing this, Rajasekhar shouted for help and persons who were nearby searched for the boys.On information fire and rescue personnel also arrived and they were able to retrieve the dead bodies of Anish and Saravanan.In yet another incident Krishna Kumar (22), a painter from North Gramam in Parakai, who slept on the banks of Parakai temple tank was found missing on Monday. On suspicion, the fire service personnel were informed and after a search they found the dead body of Krishna Kumar in the tank. Krishna Kumar, a bachelor, was said to be an alcoholic. He could have slipped into the tank in an inebriated condition and died, police said.
