Kollam: The office of Superintendent of Police received a call on Sunday evening issuing a threat to Congress President Sonia Gandhi when she visits the state to attend the state Congress meet in Kochi on December 16.
The police immediately brought the matter to the notice of the Central intelligence agencies and the call was traced to Muscat, a senior police officer said.
The caller threatened that a 10-member gang of terrorists had been assigned the task of striking at the Congress meeting to be attended by Sonia Gandhi, the official said.
The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) has already announced that the state conference of the party would be held at Kochi from December 14 to 16.
Sonia Gandhi is due to address the delegates of the conference on December 15 and a public meeting on December 16.
