New Delhi: The Google doodle in honour of Gustav Klimt on his 150th birth anniversary is inspired by the Austrian symbolist painter's most famous work of art 'The Kiss'.
Klimt painted 'The Kiss' between 1907 and 1908 is a square 180cmx180cm oil and gold leaf on canvas painting and shows a couple embracing. Some believe that the painting was Gustav Klimt's only self-portrait.
The pattern of the elaborate robes of the entwined couple in the painting is said to be inspired by the creations of designer Emilie Floege who is also said to be oen of Klimt's many lovers.
The painting is currently at the Upper Belvedere in Vienna.
