The ABCs of acting

CHENNAI:  Lucrezia Maniscotti (Italy) will be conducting a workshop on western theatre techniques on August 21 at Ambalam Arts & Culture from 10am to 1pm. The workshop seeks to offer a taste of the world of theatre, to deepen the theatrical work of play, to discover the communicative possibilities of the body, the quality of scenic presence, the time and way to enter and exit a scene, the manner of keeping the brain and the five senses active, to listen to ones inner rhythm and at the same time, be conscious as to what is happening on stage. Most importantly, the performer should be spontaneous to be credible and to create the magic! Lucrezia believes that not just the body language, and the stories narrated on the stage are to be conveyed to the audience, but also the emotions and sentiments. Thus, she will elaborate on how to create a team or group capable of acting together, listening and reacting to the stimuli of the space, of the text, of the companions and will also analyse the relationship between characters to discover the poetry of theatre.
