HYDERABAD: The ACB on Monday arrested M Sarveshwar Reddy, suspended OSD, Ranga Reddy district, and Talari Anantharam, retired district registrar, for allegedly pressuring a person to register an agricultural land in the name of Reddy’s father-in-law and a friend. They were produced in the ACB court which remanded them till April 20.This is the second time that Reddy was arrested. He had earlier been arrested in January in a disproportionate assets case. ACB officials said Sarveshwar Reddy and Anantharam, the then sub-registrar of Shamshabad SRO, got land belonging to a person who is no more registered in favour of the father-in-law and a friend of Sarveshwar Reddy. Reddy pressured P Gopal, a resident of Kotha Tanda at Madanpalli village to sell the land belonging to his brother P Shankar and got sale deed executed in favour of his father-in-law and a friend.Shankar had purchased 5 acres of farm land in Survey No 50/33 in 1994 and died about 10 years ago.In 1999, the govt declared lands in survey nos 50/1 to 141 as assigned lands. The tahsildar directed the sub-registrar’s office not to register land bearing the survey numbers. ‘‘Sarveswar Reddy, then ACP of Rajendra Nagar, pressured Gopal to sell two acres of land for Rs 8 lakh. Since Shankar, the actual owner died in 2001, Sarveshwar Reddy forced Gopal to forge his brother’s signature and got it registered in favour of Rahul Agarwal, a suspected benami,’’ ACB officials said.
