While the entire police department is engaged in deploying personnel in and around Tirupati and Tirumala, in wake of the presidential visit on Saturday and Sunday, a suspended cop created a flutter by resorting to organise a media conference where he levelled charges against a senior police official.
Sidda Reddy, who was working as a camp clerk at the Srikalahasthi DSP’s office, was suspended from Sunday. He had been charged with sexually harassing a woman colleague.
Against this backdrop, with an intention to explain about his innocence, clear his name and to level remarks against senior police officials who had conspired to get him suspended, Sidda Reddy came all prepared with a bunch of ‘documents’ to the Tirupati press club to hold a meet on Friday. But, he cancelled the conference on the last minute after receiving calls from senior officials.
The East police station CI Giridhar even came to the club and interacted with Sidda and succeeded in pacifying him.
When questioned, as to his turn around, he said that initially he had come to the Club to explain about misappropriation of funds by police administrative officer Ram Murthy.
“But, as the higher officials have assured me that they would look into the matter after the completion of the President’s tour of the town, I have decided not to conduct the press conference, he explained.
