KURNOOL: The Dasara Mahotsavams began on a grand note on Wednesday in Srisailam temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga temples dedicated to Lord Siva.Devasthanam EO Venkateswarlu performed special poojas marking the inauguration of the fete which would be held till Oct 6.From 9.15 a.m., several rituals like Yagasala Pravesam, Siva Sankalpam, Ganapati Poja, Swasti Punyahavaachana, Deeksha Sankalpam, Kankana pooja, Akhanda sthapana, Vastu pooja, mandaparadhana, Chandi kalasa stahapana, Rithvigvaranam were performed in the Brahmaramba temple this morning.From 9.45 a.m., special rituals akhanda sthapana, vastu pooja, mandapaaradhana, Rudrakalasa sthapana, mahanyasa poorvaka rudrabhishekam were performed in the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.In the evening, parayanam, japaanushthanam, ankurarpana, agni pratishtaapana, kumkumaarchana were held.At 7.30 p.m., Rudrahomam, Chandi homam were performed and from 9 p.m., Suhasini pooja, kaalaratri pooja, maha mangala haaratulu, neerajana mantrapushpamulu were held.Later, theertham and prasadam were distributed to the devotees. As part of the gramotsavams held every evening during the nine-day fete, goddess Brahmaramba was took out in a procession in Sailaputri alankaram.The goddess would be decorated in the forms of Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda durga, Skanda mata, Katyayini, Kalaratri, Mahadurga and Siddi Dayini during the next eight days, the EO said.Several ‘vahana sevas’ including Bhrungi, Mayura,
