Samajwadi Party leader and UP minister Azam Khan on Tuesday courted  another controversy when he was quoted as saying that the Kargil war was won by the Muslims.

Samajwadi Party leader and UP minister Azam Khan on Tuesday courted  another controversy when he was quoted as saying that the Kargil war was won by the Muslims.

The Kargil conflict of 1999 was dragged into campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls when Azam Khan was reportedly accused of trying to polarise the voters. He is said to have maintained that the “soldier who conquered the mountains of Kargil was not a Hindu but a Muslim”.

According to a report published in Zeenews, reacting to the statement of Khan, former Army chief and BJP candidate for the Ghaziabad seat VK Singh said that the Kargil battle for India was won by Indians.
