Singapore gears up for Formula One at night
Singapore is sure to attract even more fans to the sport.

New Delhi: There are 18 Formula One races in a season but only one of them will be held at night! Singapore will host first ever night-street Formula 1 race in September and its promoters are doing all they can to build up the occasion.

It's one of the world's most captivating sports - fast cars, excitable crowds and plenty of thrills and spills. Formula One races attract thousands of spectators and a TV audience of millions but what if all this happened after the sun set!!

Well, that's exactly what we will see in Singapore later this year.

"We have allowed F1 cars to be racing in the enormous streets. It is already quite mind-blowing experience, especially in downtown Singapore. So, the government was convinced from the very beginning of the project to go on a street race," said Leong Yeo Kheong.

And the 5.067-kilometre long street circuit promises to challenge the very best. It offers multiple overtaking opportunities as well as fast and challenging turns.

"Singapore is very different as it is very faster and more flowing track. One of the drivers recently took a close look at the track and he called it the most purest track which is a tremendous compliment," said Slater.

And with Vijay Mallya's Force India F1 set to burn the rubber on tracks across the world this year, Slater is sure it won't be short of support in Singapore at least.

"Force India One team is going to attract huge attention all the way across Asia. It is the home team not only in India, not only in Singapore but across the whole of far east," said Slater.

Formula 1 has a huge following in Asia and with this new venture, Singapore is sure to attract even more fans to the sport.
