Segolene Royal visits China

New Delhi: The Socialist candidate for the French presidency, Segolene Royal is visiting China to bolster her foreign-policy credentials.

Her visit comes as China has emerged as a controversial issue in the French presidential contest between Royal, a Socialist, and Nicolas Sarkozy, the candidate of the French right.

Royal is expected to discuss environment, trade and human rights issues with Communist Party leaders in Beijing.
