BHUBANESWAR: For the first time, Odisha will have an elected Youth Congress president. Sangram Keshari Jena has been elected as the president of the Odisha Pradesh Youth Congress (OPYC) defeating Biswabhusan Das. Elections for the State, Parliament and Assembly committees of the OPYC were held on December 22. Jena defeated Das by 2,902 votes. While Jena got 11,045 votes, Das could muster 8,143 votes. The State committee of the OPYC was also elected along with Jena. Biswabhusan Das will be the vice-president. Besides, Phulamani Sethi, Daridranarayan Nayak, Satyanand Rout, Biswanath Hembrum, Raimuddin Saha, Rehan Salim, Swayamsidhha Mohapatra and Sushant Behera have been elected general secretaries. Jena, son of former president of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Jaydev Jena, was vice-president and general secretary when Rohit Pujari and Ranjib Biswal were State presidents respectively. Jena was also active in politics during his student days also.
