THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Arshad, research student at the Kerala University Islamic History Department has won the first prize in the state-wide essay competition for college students conducted by Thiruvananthapuram based foundation Unity for Social Development (USD) on the theme ‘Quran and Environment Conservation’. The competition was organised with an objective to create awareness on environment conservation among younger generation. The second prize was jointly shared between Habeel M M of Shanthapuram Jamiya-Al-Islamiyya and Abdul Rauf T T of Chemmad Darul Huda Academy. Binu Abraham, Malayalam research student of Kerala University has won the third prize. The awards were declared by a panel comprising N A Kareem, S Faizy, K K Abdul Aziz, P A Saeed, Ashraf Kadakkal and Moulvi Fathahudeen Rashadi. Prizes will be distributed on June 5, World Environment Day, at Press Club Hall on 4.30 p.m.
