New Delhi: Six youngsters arrested from a rave party in Mumbai have been sent to judicial custody till December 8. They are among the first batch of teens produced in court by the Mumbai Police.
Over 200 youngsters - including sons and daughters of film stars - were arrested by the police from a rave party in Juhu in October.
Last week medical test reports revealed that 109 on of them tested positive for drug abuse. All the six have now approached the sessions court for interim bail.
The Narcotics cell of the Mumbai Police in a raid in October at nightclub called Bombay 72 degrees had detained 231 youngsters and eight drug peddlers.
"They were arrested and produced immediately before the court and they will get bail. We have started judicial proceedings" said DCP Vishwas Nagre Patil.
According to the police, there were several youngsters from affluent families at this rave party including the sons and daughters of filmstars such as Shakti Kapoor and Aditya Panscholi, who later denied the involvement of their children.
"She had just gone for a Saturday night party with her friends there was just dancing and hanging around," says actor Aditya Panscholi.
Last year, the police raided a rave party on the outskirts of Pune with several IT professionals and airhostesses, over 280 youth detained, later tested positive for drugs.
But in the Pune rave bust, many of the youth were let off with a stern warning since they were first-time offenders.
