A stampede-like situation erupted in Gujarat’s Bharuch district after hundreds of job seekers turned up for walk-in interviews held for just 10 posts.
The incident occurred at Bharuch’s Ankleshwar where nearly 1800 job aspirants queued up to appear for the interview held by a private firm for just 10 posts.
The pushing and shoving among the aspirants waiting in the massive queue caused the railing on the ramp to collapse.
A video circulating on social media shows job seekers standing in a disorganized queue, tightly packed together. The crowd became unruly, pushing and jostling to keep their place in line.

As people leaned on the railing nearby, the sheer weight of the crowd caused it to bend downwards. To avoid injury, some job seekers jumped off the ramp as the railing began to collapse. Unfortunately, others fell to the ground when the railing gave way under the pressure.
Meanwhile, the video triggered a verbal duel between the opposition Congress and the ruling BJP.
While the Congress said it had exposed the “Gujarat model” (of development that the ruling party talks about), the Bharatiya Janata Party said the former was trying to defame the state through the video.
Tagging the video in a post on X, the opposition Congress said, “Gujarat model of Narendra Modi. A huge crowd of unemployed people gathered for a hotel job in Bharuch, Gujarat. The situation became such that the railing of the hotel broke and the Gujarat model was exposed. Narendra Modi is imposing this model of unemployment on the entire country.”
Hitting back, the BJP, in a post on X, said, “Efforts to defame Gujarat are being made through a viral video from Ankleshwar. The advertisement for the walk-in interview clearly states they require experienced candidates. This implies those attending the interview are already employed elsewhere. Therefore, the notion of these individuals being unemployed is baseless.” Spreading negativity about Gujarat was a tactic of the Congress, the BJP added.
