BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Pre- University Colleges Association (KSPUCA)on Wednesday reiterated that it would boycott the evaluation of II PU examination scripts from Friday if the government did not accept its demands for a salary hike by Thursday. At a press conference here on Wednesday, the association disagreed with the statement made by Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri on Monday. The minister had stated that the lecturers cannot set deadlines to the government. Core committee member of KSPUCA K V Srikantegowda said, “All we are demanding is a salary on a par with undergraduate college lecturers, who are getting UGC pay scale.” He added that the boycott was not to threaten the government. “We are not threatening the government but it is they who have cheated us from time to time by false promises,” he added.According to him, the other state governments were planning to implement the recommendations by Seventh Pay Commission. “We are stillfinalising on agreeing for the Sixth Pay Commission. Not many will get into teaching if the scenario continues,” he added.
