THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The service and wage conditions of plantation workers in the state have been revised. The decision was taken at a meeting convened by Labour Minister Shibu Baby John. According to the revised wages, a worker in the rubber sector would get `265 daily, an increase of Rs 80.62. In cardamom plantation, it would be `215, an increase of `56.71. The employees in the tea sector would get `180, an increase of `33.61. An amount of ` 185 has been fixed for those in the coffee sector, an increase of `38.61. The present dearness allowance of `6.5 for more than 400 points would continue.  Supervisory employees in the rubber plantation would get an increase of `2,545, tea plantation `1,042 and cardamom `1,800 per month. The revised wages would have retrospective effect for rubber and cardamom plantations from October 1, 2011 and tea plantation from November 15, 2011. It has also been decided to distribute the dues before July 31, 2012.  The meeting was attended by Plantation Labour Committee member Lalaji Babu, P K Gopalan, T M Prabha, H Rajeevan, P R Suresh, P S Rajan, Cyriac Thomas, C K Unnikrishnan, P K Moorthi, M Y Ouseph, P P A Karim, Employees Union representatives G Somanathan, Prince Thomas George, Thomas Augustine, Thomas Jacob and S Goplakrishnan. Labour Commissioner T T Antony and Additional Labour Commissioner Tony Vincent participated.
