Panchayat chief usurped land

NAMAKKAL: A case of land grab has been registered aga­inst three persons, including a local body chief, here.A special cell formed for investigating complaints of land grabbing booked P Ganesan, the panchayat president of Siviampalayam, near here, his mother Kaliammal and an associate, Natarajan, based on a complaint from N M Sivan, a Namakkal resident, a senior official said on Monday.Sivan had charged them with encroaching on a 2.12-acre plot of land, worth Rs 2 crore, at Thathampatti in Siviampalayam. Ganesan and Natarajan are DMK functionaries.Sub-registrars BookedIn a related development, two sub-registrars, along with eight other persons, were booked on land grabbing charges in the district.The special cell had filed a case on a complaint from V Jayaprakash, a resident of Paramathivelur here, that his 17-cent land was usurped using  fake documents.
