At least one woman got injured on Wednesday as Pakistani troops continued to violate ceasefire in the Sabjiyan sector of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
This is the second case of ceasefire violation by Pakistani rangers in a span of 24 hours.
Pakistani troops opened fire at Indian Army posts and also targeted civilian areas across the Line of Control (LoC).
"Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire and resorted to unprovoked firing of small arms and mortar shells on forward areas along the LoC in Sabzian sector of Poonch from 0125 hours", a Defence Spokesman said.
They fired 81 mm mortars and from other automatic weapons on forward posts and hamlets.
Army troops guarding the border retaliated resulting in exchanges which ended around 0300 hours, the spokesman said, adding a woman identified as Naseema was injured and has been hospitalised.
With this ceasefire violations, there have been 11 ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in August.
A youth was killed and two others were injured, including a BSF jawan, when Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by resorting to firing and mortar shelling on border out posts and hamlets along the IB in 4 sectors of Kanachak, Pargwal, Tawi and R S Pura in Jammu district on Tuesday.
