Islamabad: While Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf’s meeting in Havana has turned out 'positive', Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that his country believes in peace and has no "aggressive designs against any one".
"Pakistan believes that peace be achieved through strength, not weakness and as a responsible nuclear weapon state, it adheres to the doctrine of minimum credible deterrence to ensure peace in the region," Aziz said to newsmen after he met Pakistan Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Ehsan ul Haq.
Stating that his country would go on strengthening the defence of the country by providing necessary resources to its armed forces, The News quoted Aziz as saying, "Pakistan believes in impregnable defence through economic sovereignty, smooth political process, good governance and friendly international environment to protect our integrity and solidarity".
