HYDERABAD: The Osmania University and the chief electoral officer signed a memorandum of understanding here on Monday on broadbasing students' participation in electoral registration and citizenship education. It was the 20th in a series of MoUs with various universities by the CEO's office in a step to further the objectives of the Election Commission.The MoU seeks to set up a core group of faculty members at the university to design appropriate programmes for enhancing students' engagement in democratic processes. It encourages formation of student clubs at colleges and hostels to imbibe the values of democratic living and learning by doing.The student clubs will facilitate registration of students as voters. The university will take up voter awareness programmes in villages and towns around the university area and will integrate citizenship education into the academic schedule by taking up projects, surveys and studies.The CEO will extend necessary support and suggest relevant projects to the student clubs.
