THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: For the first time, the medical and engineering entrance applications would only be accepted online from this year onwards.This facility would help thousands of students from other states and abroad to apply for the examination.Along with the online submission of application form, students would also have tosubmit a printed application.Sources from the Commissionerate of Entrance Examination told Express that this was the first time that online submission of application was being introduced.Application forms would be uploaded 0n the website of the Commissionerate of Entrance Examination.Application forms would be available on the website from January 19. The prospectus would be printed and distributed to the students.According to sources, the fee for the application form can be paid at post offices or through a demand draft. A payment card would be issued from the post offices which would have a number printed on it.“The number of the card or details of the demand draft has to be entered into the application form. Those who are paying the amount as demand draft can sent it to the Commissionerate along with the printed application form,” sources said.All those who make the online submission of application should also take a printout of the application form and submit to the Commissionerate with a picture affixed to it and duly signed. The fee of the application is ` 700 for the general category and `350 for SC/ST candidates.Steps have been taken for training the government school teachers to fill the application forms online. Applications can be submitted individually, through schools or through Akshaya Centres.Akshaya director Korath C Mathew said that the online application was a great boon for the students as they can avail of the facility from any of the Akshaya Centres.The students from remote areas can also submit the application without any hurdle. “The staff at the Akshaya Centres would assist the students to fill the application forms. They are also trained in this regard,” he said.
