BANGALORE: With growing talks of Bangalore turning into a concrete jungle, the Sanjaynagar park that is  maintained by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP)provides a place where the elderly can sit and chat, the young can play and the fitness freaks can work on their fitness.Spread over a site of approximately 200-250 square feet, the park has been equipped with two gates in order to increase accessibility. Dustbins are situated at equidistant locations thereby encouraging visitors to keep the vicinity clean. The breeze sways along with it the fragrances of the numerous flowering plants that have been planted here. Sprinklers have been installed at central points thereby minimising all hassles associated with watering the plants.The joggers path in the park is cleaned on a daily basis. A pathway along the length of a park leads to a mini-pool that the kids say, ‘is their favourite part of the park’. Sprawling lawns cover the complete expanse of the park in the midst of an area which is known for towering buildings.Located on the Sanjaynagar Main Road, the park has been aptly situated in front of a hospital. Patients say that looking out of their window into the park to see the greenery has a positive impact on them. A visitor of the park, Manjula, told City Express that she has been visiting the park on a routine basis since its inauguration. She remarked, “On every occasion that I have visited the park, I have seen the caretaker tending to the plants.”Several posters have been put up educating people to keep their surroundings clean. The construction of gopura-like structures enable people to meditate in peace. An elderly citizen of the area, Krishna, said, “It is a good place to exercise. Even if you are exhausted, the presence of benches and the sitting structures made out of stone help you get rest.” The presence of a library inside the park draws its share of bookworms. A visitor to the library, Rashmi, said, “It’s nice to just pick up a books and read in serene surroundings like this.”But there are a few areas of concern regarding the state of the park. The weeds have been dumped in a corner. A few benches left in a state of neglect call for desperate attention. The local corporator of the area NM Krishnamurthy, asserted, that he had already submitted an estimate regarding this to the concerned authorities. On the agenda is the reconstruction of the benches as well as the construction of a toilet.”He further added that the instalment of musical lights were also something they were looking at. The park has been maintained by the horticulture department of the BBMP and is open from 5 am to 10 am and from 4.30 pm to 8 pm.
