BANGALORE: The Double Road park is said to be one of the most famous parks in Indiranagar. Established in 1968, by dimensions it is considered a small park but the residents have never felt the need for a bigger one. The park is provided with clean benches, green plants and drinking water. The working hours of the park are from 4 am to 10 am in the morning and 4 pm to 8 pm in the evening.The caretaker of the park, Venkanna, talked of the park from his view point. He said, “I have been working here from the past four years. I water the plants and trees everyday. I ensure that the park is clean.” He is satisfied with the seven hundred rupees paid to him to do the same. If the surroundings are found to be unclean, a single word to the cleaners is all it takes to ensure that the park is immaculate again. The residents are quite appeased with the maintenance of the park. They have no complaints except, that they say that cleanliness could be worked upon.A visitor to the park, Hussain, spoke to City Express. He said, “I have been visiting the park for the past seven years. I have seen it grow over the years. There is room for development as an effort could be made to keep the area around the park clean. The park is an escape for many who see it as a place where they are guaranteed peace of mind. Sheena, a resident of the area, said, “The park really helps me de-stress. I run a few rounds and feel rejuvenated by the fresh air and green surroundings.”For the health conscious people, the park helps them in keeping themselves hale and healthy. A runner on the path, Sridevi, informed us that this was the perfect way for her to burn calories. She added that the environment inspires her to stay fit to. The variety of flowers with their many colours are a sight which instantly brightens your mood. A board has been set up to give information about the history of the park to the visitors. Night lights have also installed for people who like walking under the stars. The corporator of the area, Savitha Ramesh, was unavailable for comments.
