Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday issued notices to the state government and the authorities of SCB medical college to file counters within three days in response to a writ filed by one Susanata Mallick, who claims that his newborn baby boy was swapped in the hospital in Cuttack.
"The Division Bench headed by Chief Justice V Gopala Gowda has fixed on Thursday for the next date of hearing," petitioner's lawyer Gopal Krushna Mohanty said.
The petitioner, a native of Asureswar of Cuttack district has claimed that his wife Rashmita had delivered a baby boy in the hospital on March 30.
But the hospital authorities insisted that she had delivered a baby girl.
Urging the High Court for a direction to the authorities to discharge his wife Rashmita from the hospital along with the baby boy she had delivered, Susanta in his petition had also urged the court to conduct a DNA test to ascertain the parents of the baby girl who is now lying unclaimed in the hospital.
