New Delhi: Amidst accusation from the Opposition that the January polls will not be free of rigging, President Pervez Musharraf insists they will be free and fair elections.
He has also assured that his government will not use intelligence services to manipulate the election result, a fear that's been expressed by many in the country.
Describing the allegations of poll rigging and manipulation as a excuse, Musharraf has said that the Opposition is doing this just in case they fare poorly at the ballot.
“I cannot control all the officials. But as long as there is no stuffing of ballot boxes, there is no rigging and there is no unnatural bloating of results, there is no faking of results. The government will never be employed and the intelligence (services) will never be used for manipulating the results,” said Musharraf.
