BANGALORE: Child Care Programme (CCP), a non-government organisation that is making efforts to make villages free from child labour claims to have succeeded in four villages in Karnataka.A press release from the NGO says it has reduced child labour in cotton fields from more than 20 per cent in 2004 to less than 0.5 per cent in 2011. The release said that in Karnataka, three villages in Yelburga and one in Gadag had been made free from child labour. Devappa Hireyhal, a farmer who participated in CCP, said the villagers would continue to practice and strengthen the programme collectively.
