THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The construction works of a sidewall along the ill-fated Parvathy Puthanar at Karikkakom, where six kids and their caretaker lost their lives in a mishap, will begin on an immediate note, said P M Francis, who took charge as the District Collector here on Friday. Speaking to the media at the Collectorate here on Friday, Francis said: ‘’We have decided to begin the construction of the sidewall as soon as possible. The work will be completed in a time-bound manner.’’ The Collector also said that the various roadworks in the city which are crawling will be co-ordinated and prioritised. The reasons for the delay will be figured out and steps to undertake the road construction works without delay will be discussed and implemented, he added. About the need to give the much-needed thrust to revenue administration, he said that nearly 10,000 revenue transaction cases have been identified  as pending in the district. ‘’There are ways by which such undue delay in the revenue proceedings can be avoided. For instance, if an officer takes upon his responsibilities more seriously, the public will be benefited. Instead, often, an officer feels that his duty ends with preparing and sending a report. These are some issues which will be taken care of,’’ he said.  Responding to the complaints regarding the unsympathetic attitude of staff at the Collectorate towards public, he said that a public grievance cell will be set up at the Collectorate. The cell will be constituted by selected staff members who will attend to the complaints of the public with due regard.
