Sources said the CBI took the three doctors into custody and are questioning them about their links to a gang that solved the paper. It is now being investigated if they gave the answers only to beneficiaries who were traced or to others as well

Three resident doctors from the AIIMS in Patna were detained for their alleged links to the “paper solver” gang, as part the CBI’s probe into alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024. They are believed to be part of a team that solved the paper for the beneficiaries, sources told News18.

According to sources, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took the three doctors into custody and are questioning them about their links to a gang that solved the paper. It is now being investigated if they gave the solved paper only to beneficiaries that have been traced or to others as well, sources said.

Sources further said the central agency has seized their mobile phones and laptops while their hostel room was also sealed.

CBI Made Two Arrests From Bihar, Jharkhand

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) made two additional arrests on July 17, including a key accused, who allegedly stole the paper from a National Testing Agency’s trunk in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh, in the NEET paper leak investigation case.

The agency had arrested Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya, a 2017-batch civil engineer from the National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, who allegedly stole the NEET-UG paper from the NTA trunk in Hazaribagh.

The CBI has also arrested one Raju Singh, who allegedly helped Kumar in stealing the paper, officials said, adding that Singh was also arrested from Hazaribagh.

As per earlier reports, there were discrepancies in the trunk in which these question papers had arrived at Hazaribagh’s Oasis School.

The premier investigations agency has made significant strides in the investigation and the number of accused arrested by them has gone up to 13. Sources within the agency told CNN News18 that they are close to arresting the main accused Sanjeev Mukhia in the matter.
