THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 1 (Kerala) Girls Battalion NCC is conducting its annual training camp at Christian College, Kattakkada, from June 27. More than 500 cadets drawn from all the NCC units in the State and about 50 supporting staff are attending the camp, led by Commandant K T Mathew. Apart from the normal training, the main aims of the camp are to select cadets for participation in the Thal Sainik Camp being planned at Delhi in September this year and also to provide personality development classes to the cadets. The cadets will be given classes on ecology and environment by the State Forest Department. The Branch Recruiting Office, Thiruvananthapuram, will give motivation classes about how to join the Indian armed forces, the Fire and Rescue Services will hold classes on firefighting and rescue operations and the Health Department will conduct an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS. The camp will come to a close on July 6.
