BANGALORE: A lower court has grated bail to Sri Rama Sene chief Pramod Mutalik who has been arrested and sent to judicial custody for the alleged attack on Bangalore University’s Director of Correspondence Courses and Distance Education Prof BR Niranjan.Mutalik has been charged under six sections of the IPC for attempt to murder, unlawful assembly and threatening with dire consequences, among other charges.A gang of Sri Rama Sene activists led by Mutalik allegedly assaulted Niranjan and ransacked his office on December 16. Niranjan was allegedly slapped on his right cheek and they attempted to hit him on head with a chair. Later, Ulsoor Gate police had arrested them and the accused were remanded in judicial custody till Dec 30.Another ArrestedThe CCB sleuths have arrested one more person in connection with the sensational double murder case in which two students were kidnapped from Mysore and murdered in Chickballapur in the month of June, taking the total number of arrested persons to 12. Mirza Tanvir (28), a member of the Karnataka Democratic Front (KDF) was arrested in Pune recently, but five of his associates have fled, police said. M Sudheendra (19) and HS Vignesh (20), were found murdered in the month of June.
