Etawah: Six people, including three mediapersons, were injured in a minor stampede when a huge crowd turned up to greet Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at his ‘janata darshan’ in Saifai on Sunday.
This is his first visit to Saifai after the recent Samajwadi Party family feud became public. As news of his arrival spread a large number of people thronged the guest house to meet him.
Thousands of people had gathered at the venue to wish him on the festive occasion. He also interacted with people and listened to the their woes before directing officers to take action against the guilty.
However, the police could not handle the situation and the crowd went out of control which led to a mild stampede-like situation.
One person aged 55 sustained a fracture and a few others including journalists have suffered minor injuries.
Akhilesh Yadav had driven down to Saifai to celebrate Diwali with his extended family.
