BANGALORE: In a bid to revive Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, also party supremo, will arrive in the city on Sunday where she will address a state-level meeting of party delegates. State BSP sources informed Express that Mayawati will be accorded a grand reception on her arrival on Sunday and will be taken to Palace Grounds where she will address about 5,000 party delegates from 30 districts in the state. The delegates will comprise presidents, general secretaries and other office bearers at taluk, district, zonal and state level.State BSP chief Marasandra Muniyappa said that Mayawati’s visit will help to strengthen the party organisation in order to build an alternative political force for the state which was marred by corruption, nepotism and misgovernance by the BJP.BSP polled 2.74 per cent of total votes in the 2008 assembly elections compared to 1.75 per cent in 2004.Though BSP failed to win any seat, it hampered the prospects of various Congress candidates. The party opened its account in the 2004 elections when its candidate won from Bidar.
