BANGALORE/MANGALORE: An elderly couple from Hyderabad who landed in Mangalore to find a suitable bride for their son were robbed of their valuables worth Rs 2 lakh at a resort in Moodbidri on Wednesday.The couple were identified as Ram Babu Reddy and Laksmi Rajyam from Hyderabad, who are retired government employees.According to a case registered in Moodbidri police station, the couple had advertised seeking a suitable match for their son.Responding to the advertisement, a youth contacted them and introduced himself as Srikanth from Tumkur.Srikanth then directed the couple to meet him in Mangalore and successfully convinced them of finding a bride from a rich family.Without suspecting foul play, the couple arrived at Mangalore from Hyderabad in an evening flight on Wednesday.The couple was escorted to a waiting taxi by a youth who introduced himself as Srikanth and his friend.The couple were taken to a resort in Moodbidri.Later, they laced the grape juice with intoxicants and drugged the couple.The men then robbed the couple of all ornaments and cash worth Rs 2 lakh and left the lodge.
